Aston Martin DB7 Study
During 1991 one of the designs under consideration for the DB7 project was to develop a 6 cylinder platform, from the Escort RS Cosworth 4 x 4 system.
This was the route favoured by the Technical Director Rod Mansfield, who had played a major part in the development of the RS Cosworth cars.
The 1:2.5 scale clay model was developed to show how the marque's traditional styling themes could be maintained and developed for this design layout.
The alternative project in development at the time was to base the car on the Jaguar XJS platform, and it was the availability of a completely developed technical package, which ensured this version’s business case and success.
