RR Silver Seraph - Initial sketch proposal 90.11

Rolls Royce Silver Seraph / Bentley Arnage programme.

Codenamed the SXB Project during 1990-91.  This was the early design phase of the Rolls Royce Silver Seraph & Bentley Arnage models. From the first sketches in October 1990, the theme of a ‘classic’ catwalk style which tapered to the rear, (rather than the en vogue wedge) was seen in the sketches and the first tape drawings.

This then was developed as a 1/5th scale model in the January of 1991, from which Steve Harper’s design was chosen, and reproduced as a full size clay model.Working closely with Graham Hull and the Design Team of Rolls Royce, after several design reviews, in April and May, the model was then painted for its final management approval in the June of 1991.

Interestingly the design work was run concurrent with that of the MGF, and a project for Mercedes Benz in the design studios at MGA Developments. So often hastily partitioned screens were erected to keep the variety of clients apart.

Nevertheless, the design of the final clay model, clearly established the design elements of the final shape of the car.
